Darine Hotait is a New York based award winning screenwriter, film director and short story writer. She received her MFA in Film directing from Art Center College of Design in California. Darine is the founder of Cinephilia Productions, an independent film production house in New York City. Her short films screened in international film festival and granted her many awards such as 'Best short film' & 'Excellency in Filmmaking' at the Evolution International Film Festival, 'Honorable Mention' at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, 'Audience Award' at the Zero Film Festival, 'Nomination for Best Foreign Film' at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in the UK...and many more. Her work was selected in the Journal of Short Films DVD edition - a publication by the Ohio State University. She was an EMMY awards finalist for conceptualizing and directing the commercial for ‘Ashur’ album by world-class jazz pianist Tarek Yamani. Her debut feature film screenplay has been made a finalist at the San Francisco Hearst Screenwriting Competition and at the Sundance Sloan Grant. The screenplay has been optioned. In 2012, Darine laid the initial stones towards building a strong platform for independent filmmakers in the MENASA region by founding the Cinephilia Labs and the Filmmakers to Watch series. Aside from filmmaking, Darine is a devoted yogi and former dancer. She is interested in the future, the human and technological advancement related to robotics and artificial intelligence. She resides in New York.
