Campaign successfully funded on: 03 Nov,2013
My project today is to generate the seed-funding for my social business plan. My social business plan is all about providing cost-effective and time-efficient research reports for social entrepreneurs mainly and for any organizations undertaking social, economic and community development projects in the MENA. By social entrepreneurs, I mean people who establish small-scale projects with the aim of solving social problems or effecting social change.
Social entrepreneurs and developmental organizations are usually working on shoe-string budgets. They can not afford the standard budgets required for researching community grievances and needs. The people sentiment report's will provide them with a bird's eye view on the various issues facing the community so that they can better focus their efforts and investments.
The information and data I will be using in my reports is currently being labeled Big Data. It’s the new buzz word in analytics. Basically, it is just a term that includes any data generated from traditional business activities and new sources of business activities. I am only mentioning this to emphasize that at present this method is considered a ‘big deal’. This concept of using Big Data for reporting on social causes in the Arab World is a unique concept. A few white papers have been written about the topic, but up until now no program (I am aware of) has begun such an initiative.
To read up more on the topic of my project, I am sharing with you the below links:

How Big Data Liberates ResearchToday my crowd-funding goal covers the seed-funding cost of my project set-up. There is one main cost that I need before I may begin any type of activity. This is the registration of the company. Without registering my company I will not be able to:
This first step of business registration is key to my operations. Any additional money above and beyond my goal will go towards paying for the research tool I need for my project.
There are many ways in which you may assist me out in my project without the involvement of monetary offerings! It would be great if you would:
Dalala is offering lovely eco-friendly rewards devised by social entrepreneurs. There is Junk Munkez, the eco-conscious artists, and Cedar Environmental, winner of the Energy Globe Award.
Junk Munkez are a collaboration comprised of Lea Kirdikian and Xavier Baghdadi, which aims at using scrapped and trashed materials in upcycled/recycled designs.
They design colorfully fun objects for those who seek a lighter and greener side to life. By using eco-conscious ethics in designing eco-friendly products, they are trying to spread DIY and RRR principles in our rather upside world where consumerism and surplus reign supreme.
Definitely check out their Facebook page for more info!

Dear Dalala’ers,
It has been quiet long since we have been in contact. I apologize profusely for this long absence. Many of you had been receiving emails from the crowd funding platform that seemed like spam or phishing. Again, apologies for inconveniencing you with that.
However, it’s a new year! And I would like to begin 2014 with a positive outlook! Thank you all for bearing with me. Your generosity and contributions have finally been received (just last week!).
As you all should have noticed, I have begun contacting you for your pressies! Yayyyy!
Project wise – I am currently working on the business plan. I still have not registered the company. I would prefer to do things in the correct order of priority, which is first have the business plan ready and finalized. Second, begin the registration process. The business plan should be finalized by the month of January. February registration and other plans begin (I will update you on those when the time arrives).
Wish me luck!
I would also like to wish all Dalala supporters new beginnings and positive changes in their lives. Hope your inspired to live a life of health, wealth, and laughter!
Take care and love,
Dalala
Many people assume that researchers are boring nerds stuck in the darkest room in the office discussing whether to use a seven- versus five-point Likert Scale. When I try to describe what I do to others, I get all excited,…
