From Lebanon, we created an autonomous art making bot. We got spotted and invited by one of the best Design Biennale in the world this March 2017, but without your help, we won't be able to make it!
We made it all locally, from ground up. We 3Dprinted every part, coded every byte, engineered it all. Our first prototype was invited to Design Days Dubai, and now we have the chance to make a better one to shine internationally.
(Structure, coding, design, engineering, fabrication, all was done locally in Beirut).
The Obsessive Drafter (TOD) is an interactive art installation.
Our robot encounters people, and decides on its own to create a portrait. As the rules that controls its drawing are numerous the interactions between them are infinite, therefore even us don't know what will be the output, when TOD draws, everybody stands looking, fascinated.

TOD recreates the moment when the drawing appears and makes sense, to its bare essence.
It questions both creation and representation, it is a predictive model* of a graphic artist at creation. It is a platform for testing hypothesis on rules of representation in arts. We are using it for testing assumptions on how the graphics are generated to attain a meaningful level.
The large mobile robotic arm is made of 3D Printed parts, aluminum tubes, stepper motors, drives, controllers, a graphite pen and our home cooked software.

It's time to show that Middle-East has the skills to play with the avant-garde to tech-art at world wide level. We got invited, we did a first prototype, now we need YOU to make it!
What We Need & What You Get
By helping us you will fund:
-Shipping TOD to and back from, Saint-Etienne
-Sending two of us to Saint-Etienne (plane+accommodation) to set it up
-Buying parts to make a second prototype, better, faster, smarter (with sensors for autonomy), with all the additions we found needed when running prototype one.
-Sending us as ambassadors that will prove both for abroad and locally that we can be a part of the tech wave and industry.
-If we don't get the full funding, and reach only the first milestone, we'll patch up prototype 1, and make the impossible have it work at the Biennale.
