WHAT IS 'ORB'?
A Science Fiction short film by director Darine Hotait that tells the story of a mother who just lost her child however she is given the chance to bring him back to life and make him immortal through a technology that enhances the human's life span. The film questions our understanding of the repulsion between mortality and immortality, these two poles of extremities that govern our nature.
Science Fiction genre is underrepresented and almost non-existent in Middle Eastern/ Arabic speaking Cinema. With this film, the director proposes a vision of Beirut in the year 2050.
WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST THE DIRECTOR WITH YOUR MONEY?
All we can say about the director (other than what's written in her biography next door) is that she is a Futurist. She is passionate about the technological advancement in the fields of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and their effect on the Human evolution.
She has written 3 Science fiction films, in the process of writing a Sci-Fi short stories collection, directed 5 award winning short films, optioned her debut feature film screenplay (she's also attached as the director), won prestigious awards for her work around the world and survived a 1990 car bomb right below her 1st floor apartment in Beirut.
Watch the award winning films by writer/director Darine hotait this will help you wipe out any doubts.

WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING?
- Pre-production: we need to make tests and hire special effects consultants. (Approx. $2500)
- Production: cover the cost of filming for 5 days in Beirut on location and in a studio. We need to rent camera/light/sound equipment. Pay the crew and professional actors. Pay for location rentals. Build our futuristic sets. Rent/design props & make costumes. Feed everyone. (Approx. $10000)
- Post-Production: We need to pay for 3D animation, special effects and digital compositing services. We need to pay all the post-production team (sound designer, music composer, editor, colorist...) (Approx. $8000) The money will partially cover the post-production expenses. We are in discussion with potential partners to sponsor post-production services.
