Picture this… you visit thevolunteercircle.com, you choose the industry that interests you the most, you insert your age and some info - and you are immediately matched with several opportunities that fit what you’re looking for.
Whether you are a concerned citizen keen on helping your community in different fields, a professional looking to share your skills with people who need it, or if you’re looking for motivation or the chance to widen your fields of interest… we at The Volunteer Circle (TVC) believe it is time to take CHARGE.
By creating a platform for skill-sharing across all areas of Lebanon, we hope to match enthusiastic volunteers, community servicers, experience seekers, and multi-talented individuals with the cause that needs them the most.
We hope, on the long term, to encourage altruism, generosity, and mindful effort on the personal level, but also to improve the capacity of local organizations at the national level. An initiative for the people by the people, TVC’s vision is to change the way we use our time, efforts, and individual talent.
Who we are
We are a small team with a big vision.
Our backgrounds are in social work with the UN and local NGOs, marketing, journalism, and of course, volunteerism across the globe.
What we need and why
One thing is for sure…. Organizations need more help to continue their great work, and many people have the intention to help! It’s a bit surprising that no such platform exists in light of the many needs versus the many talents in our region.
The platform aims to be all-inclusive and widespread across the country. It will include a personal profile for each user and organization (and updates geared to your interests) where listings appear and can be filtered. It will also include an individual profile and interactive wall for NGOs to announce their events and updates.
The funding will go directly to the web design and development of this platform, as well as to boosting its recognition country-wide. We are keen on it being an initiative "for the people, by the people."
An initial study of 18 pilot NGOs indicated that to work more optimally and reach their goals, they require almost TWICE the number of staff that funds cannot cover.
In parallel, a survey of 50 Lebanese citizens and 20 international volunteers indicated an intention to help out in Lebanon, especially in light of the internationally acclaimed refugee crisis and internal strife.
The lack of work experience is a problem faced by most youth in the country. Volunteering can allow you to grow your network and develop your professional skills.
Finally, extracurricular activities and community service outside working hours can have great benefits on the personal level and allow interests or hobbies to develop.
If you can’t contribute… spread the word!
Share share share and help us make the circle bigger!
