Caritas Upper Shouf sector is one of 36 sectors that are part of Caritas Lebanon and that are present all over the country. In 2000, we started our socio- medical center with the aim of serving the Upper Shouf community, namely the most unprivileged elderly people living in that area. Along with its medical mission, the Upper Shouf sector targets diverse developmental aspects of the community through regular activities like: our Christmas Village in collaboration with the German Embassy in Lebanon and Deir El Kamar Municipality that is organized in Deir El Kamar square; our yearly rally paper (targeting the youth); our yearly summer camps (targeting the children) in different Shouf villages; and our yearly cultural fundraisers to support the medical project for vulnerable elderly people in our community. In addition to our activities, we reach out to other NGOs in the Shouf area and cooperate with them, like partnering with Al-Jabal Marathon association and participating in organizing this marathon. Currently, we are moving towards a major milestone in our sector's mission, by having a permanent inclusive center that will host our medical dispensary, in addition to other facilities targeting the needs of the Shouf that were expressed through a survey that was conducted already.
