Yasmine Ghorayeb has always loved cinema, a passion that was transmitted by her father at a very young age. She holds a Master's degree in Pharmacology from McGill University, but her thirst to create was increasingly exacerbated when she got exposed to a diversity of cultures and artistic media in the Montreal art scene. In Montreal, she took filmmaking classes at Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Concordia, and acting classes at the Montreal School of Performing Arts (MSOPA). In Lebanon, she completed two scriptwriting / filmmaking workshops organized by Fade In: and wrote, shot and directed two short films. She attended Cinephilia Screenwriting Lab for Shorts organized by Cinephilia Productions, a New York based production house encouraging daring and creative voices from the MENA region. She recently pursued acting classes (Improv and Method Acting) at the Beirut Acting Workshop. She is currently working on the pilot episodes of a web-series. In 2012, Yasmine wrote, directed and produced a short film entitled 'Saudade', which won 7 awards at competitions and film festivals in the US and Lebanon. The prizes included the Best Film Award, Best Lead Actor Award, Best original Music score and Best Cinematography at the Accolade Competition in California, USA. In addition to the Best Foreign Film Award at the Action / Cut Competition, and the Best Short Film Award at the Best Shorts Festival in the US. The movie recently won the Best Film Award and was selected among the top 5 finalists at the Short Film Revolution event in Lebanon. Among others, it was selected at international film festivals in North America, Europe, and the MENA region: the Cannes Short Film Corner, the Lebanese Film Festival, the Madrid International Film Festival, the Pentedattilo Film Festival in Italy, the Oriental International Film Festival of Geneva (FIFOG), the Jaipur Festival and the Montreal Arab World Festival (to name a few). Aside from cinema, Yasmine works full time in a multinational pharmaceutical firm, and devotes all her free time to filmmaking.
