Fajr notebooks are handmade in Beirut by Syrian refugee women. The growing range of cover designs include collaborations with Lebanese and international artists, including Sasha Haddad, Holly Gavin, Yasmine Darwiche, and Hiba Eid. The project currently supports a number of families, with a vision to be supporting more families soon. Income generated covers rent, living expenses, medical care, and education — and we meet every two weeks to catch up, share life, and laugh.
To continue growing, we need a permanent home for Fajr and have been exploring places to rent - which is why we're fundraising! We found a perfect spot in Ouzai – brilliantly located for the families – and need to raise at least $5,000 to secure it for a year (and cover utility bills).
Having a permanent space will bring much needed stability for the families as well as provide somewhere for us to store finished stock and raw materials, meet, and spend time together (with the lively kids!).
We're so grateful for the many people who support us already - including our wonderful stockists around Beirut! Keep an eye out for Fajr Beirut notebooks at Aalia’s, Cafe Younes, and Dar Bistro & Books.
If you're able to donate - we are grateful! And thanks for stopping by today.
