Hello all!
My name is Leen Adnan, and I'm going to be running the 42.195 km Beirut Marathon on November 12! This page is dedicated to collecting donations for Revive Association.
42 km?!? Whyyy?!?
Over a year and a half ago, I saw an acquaintance of mine post a photo of themselves at the finish line of a marathon. I remember thinking that it was so cool! I got a random craving to do it too! It was a fleeting thought, though, that I didn't expect to ever revisit.
Also over a year and a half ago, one of my best friends was diagnosed with cancer. It was a long grueling battle. Twice. She kicked cancer's butt. Twice.
Both times, I felt helpless. Useless. Frustrated. I was there for her, but I wanted to do more. I'm a fixer. I solve problems. I needed to do something.
That's when the idea of running a marathon resurfaced. I hadn't run before, and I'd need months of training if not a year, but I didn't care. It suddenly became the one thing I can do to help. The determination never subsided.
Revive Association
Revive is a non-profit organization, founded by 5 cancer survivors and a thalassemia survivor, aimed at providing full support to adult cancer patients. By full support, they focus on providing psychological awareness, scientific awareness and moral support to cancer patients and their families. They also aim to provide financial support to patients who are unable to fund their treatment.

How I'm preparing
In July, I joined the Beirut 542 training program. The “542” program is a community-based initiative created by the Beirut Marathon Association aiming to transform first time runners into marathoners. And they're succeeding!
I went from barely completing a 2 km run to completing 28 km so far! I'll keep you updated on my progress every Sunday, after our weekly long run!
How you can help
There are several ways you can help, if you cannot contribute through Zoomaal!
Sharing this page with people who might be interested in helping with this cause is always a good place to start.
Or, if I've inspired you, you can run for Revive at the Fun Run at the Beirut Marathon by signing up here: https://www.facebook.com/reviveassoc/
Finally, you can like Revive's facebook page to follow up on what they're up to, and explore other ways you can help them out!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or even suggestions!
Thanks :D
