Back in the time, it was possible to travel by train from major capital cities in Europe to Lebanon. Unfortunately, today, that is not the case. The public transportation sector in Lebanon had its boom in around 1895 (opening of the first railway in Beirut) up until the year 1965, where the collateral damage of the civil war caused irreversible damage to the railways. Without a proper railway in Lebanon, at least connecting Beirut to other areas of Lebanon, there will be an over-demand of personal and public transportation.
The goal of this project is to improve the public transport services of Lebanon, and the first step is to fix the Bus stop services. Therefore, our project aims at designing and implementing a network of “smart” bus stops in Lebanon. This will be the start of the reactivation of the public transportation services that were once appreciated by the users.
What do we mean by Smart bus stops?
What are the challenges?
We got all the approvals needed. However, without a funding source, we will not be able to implement the project. Therefore, we need to get endorsement from local sponsors while engaging the municipalities.
